As long as the product was unfinished, it could still be perfect. It could still succeed in his head. The moment people saw it, they would decide if it mattered.

Marcus knew everything about things he had never done.

He had hundreds of bookmarked articles, half-built Notion boards, and a head full of frameworks. He could explain startup mistakes like a lecturer. He understood technical debt, growth loops, founder psychology.

But he wasn’t building anything.

His side project looked impressive from the outside. The README was polished. The designs were clean. The idea made sense.

Inside the database, there was only one user. Him.

He hadn’t shipped anything in almost a year.

The moment things shifted was quiet. No breakthrough. No sudden clarity.

He was scrolling through edgar.co.ke, going through articles he had saved to read properly one day. Then he saw a line that stopped him.

The fear he would not admit

He told himself he was improving his product. Adding features. Cleaning things up.

They had used the product and decided it was worth paying for.

Marcus sat there for a while.

It was not about the money. It was the fact that something he made existed outside his head.

For the first time, he was not preparing to build.

He had built something.
